What are the possibilities with cold-formed profiles?

The world is often conservative. If something works well, people are not quick to switch to something new. That makes sense, but it stands in the way of innovation. A shame, we think.

KS Systems is progressive. Our focus is on cold-formed profiles and in that area we are constantly innovating. We cooperate with various parties in the construction industry to explore the possibilities of cold-formed profiles. The goal is to bring products and systems developed in-house to the market. For example, we are already well advanced with a hall building system manufactured with cold-formed profiles.

Advantages of cold formed steel

A construction with cold-formed profiles can be up to 40% lighter than one made of hot-rolled profiles. That makes a big difference in steel costs. But cold-formed steel has many other advantages:

• Shape, length and holes in one process
• Reduced failure costs
• Ability to build circularly
• Lower production costs with high volume
• Relatively low waste rate
• Lower transportation costs
• Welders are not needed

EN standards present

We are convinced of the strength of cold-formed profiles and we want to convince everyone of that. The framework conditions are excellent: even the EN standards are aimed at cold-formed profiles. Cold-formed steel is already widely used in the United States and England, and good example follows good practice.
